26 March 2020 – Coronavirus Update from our Managing Director, Greg Clark

In these difficult and unprecedented times, first and foremost I want to express my sincere thanks to my entire team for their commitment, motivation and determination in ensuring that our highway network continues to operate. My team have been exceptional in undertaking the planning and delivery of safety critical works which has been crucial in these difficult times.

The Construction Industry is one that I have been extremely proud to have been a part of for the past thirty years and have witnessed massive improvements and developments towards the Health, Safety and Wellbeing of the workforce employed within one of the largest industry sectors in the United Kingdom. I feel that due to the escalating concerns regarding Coronavirus and the onset of Covid-19, it is the responsibility of myself as a business owner to stand by my personal commitment to Safety First and Zero Harm  place the safety and welfare of my workforce above all other factors.

I have therefore, today, made the tough decision to temporarily close the business voluntarily and furlough my staff from Wednesday 1st April. This will enable safety critical works already booked and programmed to be completed whilst operating within Government guidelines wherever practicable.

Subject to further advice from Government and Public Health England, the business shall re-open on Tuesday 14th April after allowing all of our staff to be with their families and isolate themselves at home for a full 13 days. After this time, hopefully, there will have been a significant improvement in the containment of the Coronavirus, reducing the burden to the National Health Service and ultimately saving lives around the country.

During this time, from the safety of their homes my management team will maintain availability through email and telephone contact if necessary. This is to provide mental health support to our staff if required and will allow our fabulous portfolio of customers to maintain contact with the team for any future works that need pricing or programming when the country returns to a level of normality.

It is our responsibility as a business to maintain safety for our staff and customers whilst ensuring that we still have a strong business when we emerge from the other side of this current devastation.

I thank all my staff, our suppliers and customers for their continued and valued support during this difficult time and we look forward to returning to deliver outstanding work to exceptional clients in the near future.

Many thanks

Greg Clark MCIHT
